Triplett & Scott ( Meriden Manufacturing Co. Conn ) Model Repeating Carbine .50 Rimfire Cal 7 Shot Magazine Tube Repeating Carbine w/ 22" round scarce barrel Estimated Approx. Only 2000 Produced with this barrel length, Circa 1864 - 1865 [ blued finish starting to fade, traces of flaking case color, turned silver on receiver, various marks and scratches to metal, barrel sights, Marked Kentucky left side of breech, cracked and repaired stock at wrist, with two rear sling swivels, carbine style metal butt plate, A contract for the carbines was executed Jan. 2, 1865 for Guard Troops mustered into service to protect the supply lines of the Union Army under Gen. W. T. Sherman to engage in the Atlantic Campaign, and they were received too late for service in the Civil War. Markings believed to be the Inspector notes on most are letters N/W.B. in small block letters on the left side of the stock near butt plate, which you can see faintly on this firearm, Note ; barrel is rotated to receive cartridge and then rotated back into position for firing ] Ser # 4045 ANTIQUE NO PAL REQ
